Oceania
From the rainforests of Queensland in Australia,
to the mountains of New Guinea, Oceania is home to a unique set of mammals,
birds and reptiles. Marsupials evolved before placental mammals, and
were out-competed over most of the world by their more aggressive cousins,
but placental mammals never made the migration to Oceania, and so marsupials
evolved to fill all the niches filled elsewhere by the mammals we are
more familiar with.
