Americas

From Mexico to the tip of Tierra del Fuego, Latin America is a fascinating and varied continent. With 1,100 species of mammals, and more than 4,000 species of bird, including no less than 320 species of hummingbird alone, not to mention one of the world's great mountain ranges, the Andes, two of the world's largest river systems, the Amazon and Orinoco, and more than half the world's surviving rainforest.

In 2008 we are running trips to two of the greatest wildlife-watching countries on the planet: Costa Rica and Guyana.

Costa Rica was the original eco-tourism destination, and is still one of the best. One third of the country is protected in National Parks and reserves, and the wildlife is spectacular.

Guyana is the only English speaking country in South America. A country the size of Great Britain, with only 700,000 people, and filled with great wildlife, including giant otter, Brazilian tapir, giant anteater and 8 species of primate. Not forgetting the elusive jaguar - always a hard mammal to find, Guyana is the best place in the world to see this spotted cat.
